Vivien's Heavenly Ice Cream Shop - Review

Hey everyone,

So today i'm here with a little review for you all on the book Vivien's Heavenly Ice Cream shop by Abby Clements.

I picked this book off of amazon uk a few weeks ago when  I was feeling sorry for myself (don't ask), and I actually finished it last night because it is so good. 

The reason that I picked this book up is that it was £1.95 and the cover is simply beautiful.

The back of this book says:

When Imogen and Anna unexpectedly inherit their grandmother Vivien's ice cream parlour, it turns both their lives upside-down. The Brighton shop is a seafront institution, but while it's big on charm it's critically low on customers. If the sisters don't turn things around quickly, their grandmother's legacy will disappear forever.

With summer looming, Imogen and Anna devise a plan to return Vivien's to its former glory. Rather than sell up, they will train up, and make the parlour the newest destination on the South Coast foodie map.

While Imogen watches the shop, her sister flies to Italy to attend a gourmet ice cream-making course. But as she works shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best chefs in the industry, Anna finds that romance can bloom in the most unexpected of places...

I absolutely adored this book and I really didn't want it to end, I loved the characters and the story is so good. The characters were so easy to fall for and they all play a huge role in this book.

PLOT: 

The story line of this book is so unbelievably cute that I was immediately drawn in, I wasn't sure how good this book would be but it was a really amazing one. I love anything to do with people running a shop and this one reminded me of the ones by Jenny Colgan like Rosie Hopkins Sweetshop of dreams and the Cupcake Cafe one which I really enjoyed also.

The characters were also really likable and I found it so easy to connect with them which is rare in a book and the ending of the book is honestly the cutest thing ever ad I ended up with goosebumps which is a really good thing.

Anyways I definitely recommend this book and I absolutely adored it.

I'm Sorry

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that i'm so sorry i've not been posting much on here over the past few weeks, i'm still settling into a routine with my new job and it's making reading insanely hard to do although this morning I read a good chunk of a book that I hope to finish asap so that I can get a little post up for you all soon.

The Furry Friends Tag

Hey everyone, so today I didn't really have anything to post and I found this tag on youtube and thought that i'd do it so here it goes:

Q1: What is your pets name?

My pet is called Milo.

Q2: What kind of pet is it and what breed?

He is a dog and his breed is a lurcher but more specifically a Saluki Lurcher.

Q3: How did you get your pet?

We went to visit my Gran and found out that she was getting a puppy and when we went to see them we decided that we wanted to have one too. 

Q4: How old is your pet?

He is 1 year old.

Q5: What are some quirky thing about your pets personality?

He loves to chew shoes which is insanely annoying, he will eat anything and everything, he gives kisses, he loves to run, he steals my socks, he has an overbite, he sometimes sleeps with his mouth open, he hates cats, he hates foxes even more, he isn't much of a badger fan either, he loves other dogs, he eats grass in the morning and he likes to sniff you to make sure you haven't been talking to other dogs.

Q6: What does your relationship with this pet mean to you?

He means the world to me, he makes me smile and I absolutely adore him.

Q7: What are some of your favorite past times (memories) with your pet?

We like to play fetch, cuddle (even though he hates it), we once went for a walk when he was a puppy and he cried cause I walked him too far.

Q8: What are some nicknames you call your pet?

Mizey, Miles, Mister Milo, Mister and Miro 

Q9: What is your furry friends favorite thing?

Eating.

Upcoming Books - September

Hey everyone, So today i'm back with a few books that are to be released this month that i've had a quick look at and think might be interesting.

The first book is The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

The synopsis of this book says:

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

To me this book sounds really appealing while also not suggesting exactly what lies within Coldtown, I feel like this book will be one to read because it sounds mysterious and intriguing.

The next book that is to be released this month is The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White

The synopsis of this one says:

Isadora’s family is seriously screwed up.

Of course, as the human daughter of Egyptian gods, that pretty much comes with the territory. She’s also stuck with parents who barely notice her, and a house full of relatives who can’t be bothered to remember her name. After all, they are going to be around forever—and she’s a mere mortal.

Isadora’s sick of living a life where she’s only worthy of a passing glance, and when she has the chance to move to San Diego with her brother, she jumps on it. But Isadora’s quickly finding that a “normal” life comes with plenty of its own epic complications—and that there’s no such thing as a clean break when it comes to family. Much as she wants to leave her past behind, she can’t shake the ominous dreams that foretell destruction for her entire family. When it turns out there may be truth in her nightmares, Isadora has to decide whether she can abandon her divine heritage after all.

This sounds like another interesting one that isn't like anything else that i've read and so is definitely something that I want to read when it comes out.

The next book due out this month is Leap of Faith by Jamie Blair



This book's synopsis says:

Can true love be built on lies? A teen on the run seeks relief and redemption in this gripping, romantic read.Leah Kurtz has finally found a place to call home, a town where she and baby Addy can live in peace, far from the drug-infested place she grew up. This book is appealing to me because it's unusual, I love the idea of the secrets and the love story because I love this type of book.

The next book on the list is Thin Space by Jody Casella



This book synopsis says:

Ever since the car accident that killed his twin brother, Marshall Windsor has been consumed with guilt and crippled by secrets of that fateful night. He has only one chance to make amends, to right his wrongs and set things right. He must find a Thin Space—a mythical point where the barrier between this world and the next is thin enough for a person to step through to the other side. 

But, when a new girl moves into the house next door, the same house Marsh is sure holds a thin space, she may be the key—or the unraveling of all his secrets.

As they get closer to finding a thin space—and closer to each other—Marsh must decide once and for all how far he’s willing to go to right the wrongs of the living…and the dead

This book sounds good because it is incorporating the idea of regret and guilt and also love by the sounds of the synopsis. It seems to me that there is going to be a choice for the main character to make between the girl and the Thin Space.

And finally the last book is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell



The back of this book says:

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan . . .

But for Cath, being a fan is her life — and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

This book sounds good too, it seems to me to be a unique point of view of the fan of the writer and really sounds like it will effectively portray the fans of literature and their authors.

August 2013 - Wrap Up

August Wrap Up

Hey everyone,

I can't believe it's that time again, this year has flown by so quickly and i'm determined to reach my goal of 50 books as soon as I can, this month I had a few new things going on in my life and so reading was put on the back burner a little bit what with interviews for jobs, job hunting itself and a little bit of romance August has been a very good month.

The first thing that I read was Here Come The Girls by Milly Johnson

This book was absolutely amazing, by far one of the best that i've read this year, it had romance, it had travel and it had friendship. What more could you want? This story was a really good one and I managed to read it pretty quickly. The next book that I read was My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent 

This book was one that I was really unsure about but since reading this first one I quickly decided that I really want to read the rest of the series because it's something a little bit different, if you like the Shadow Falls series then i'd definitely recommend this one to you because it's similar in a way and has that supernatural element but not the usual vampires/werewolves/witches/fairys type of supernatural.

The third book that I read in August was The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory



This book took a good while to get through but it was most definitely worth it in the end, the story was similar to that of The White Queen but told from a different angle and so this made it easier to understand as well as an interesting idea. I will not be doing a review of this one because it is part of a series but anyone who is interested in the royal family or historical novels are sure to love these. I'm hoping to read The King Makers Daughter as well as The White Princess in the future however The Lady of the Rivers isn't as appealing to me and so I will probably give that one a miss this time.

The fourth book that I read was My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent.

I read this book within about 2 days it was such a good one, I loved the story and the book really added to the series really well and I absolutely loved it. This series is definitely one to check out if you like the Shadow Falls series or are into anything remotely supernatural related.
