Leigh Reads - 24/08/2013

Hey everyone,

Yesterday was probably the worst end to the worst week but fortunately that allowed me to read a lot to take my mind off of things, anyway I managed to do so much reading you wont believe it.

I finished another book and i'm hoping to choose another one to make a start on.

So the one that I finished was My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent and I managed 208 pages of that.

I then went on to read a few chapters of a couple of other books just to get a feel for them and see which ones i'd like to read first and which ones grabbed my attention really quickly.

The first book that I had a go with was My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent. This one was an obvious choice given that i've enjoyed the other two so much and I read a total of 63 pages of this one. So far i'm liking it and I feel like it's a good continuation from the last book and it will definitely be one that I go for soon.

The next book that I read a little bit of was Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner of which I read 25 pages, I love any book with a change of characters and so this one was an obvious choice and so far I really like it, it didn't quite beat My Soul to Keep but it will definitely be one that I read soon.

The third book that I had a go of was Someone Else's Life by Katie Dale, I read 14 pages of this one and although it's not my favourite i'd like to give it a shot soon.

The last book that I had a read of is not one that I expected to like but i'm actually considering this one the front runner and that is The Captive Queen by Alison Weir of which I read 19 pages. I'm loving the scandal of this one which is interesting and the fact that it's set way back in 1152 is really interesting to me.

Therefore in total yesterday I read a huge total of 329 pages which is definitely a lot especially for me. I might even make this week a read-a-thon because this would be a good way to start out.

Anyway I might read a bit more today because I really need to take my mind off of some personal stuff and just try to get on with things and see how things pan out.

Leigh Reads - 22/08/2013

Hey everyone,

I managed to read so much yesterday and so i'm here with another update on what i'm reading.

The first thing that I read was Be Careful What You Wish For by Alexandra Potter, I actually finished this book yesterday which was exciting with reading a total of 89 pages.

I also read a bit of a few other books including My Soul To Save by Rachel Vincent reading a total of 50 pages.

And finally the last thing that I read was The Captive Queen by Allison Weir of which I read 6 pages.

That takes my daily total to 145 pages which is a pretty good amount.

Leigh Reads - 21/08/2013

Hey everyone,

So i've been a little MIA this week so first of all I want to apologise for that. What with another date on Monday and an Interview yesterday it's been a busy one.

Yesterday I went back to a book that I started a few months ago but got distracted from which is Be Careful What You Wish For by Alexandra Potter. I managed to read a total of 148 pages of this yesterday which is a huge amount and hopefully i'll get this one done over the next few days because i'm really loving it at the moment.

Collective Haul

Collective Haul

Hey everyone,

So over the past few weeks i've done a little bit of naughty book shopping and haven't posted exactly what I bought so that's what this little haul is for.

So the first stop was The Works, after reading My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent I decided that I loved it so much that I wanted to get the next few books in the series,

Therefore the first book that I got was My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent.

The first book in this series was so amazing that I just had to have the second book although i'm still waiting for it to get here unfortunately although some of the other books did come the other day so it shouldn't be too far away.

The second book that I bought was My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent.

This is the third book in the series and surprise surprise I bought this in the hope that the series continues to be amazing like the first book. Unfortunately this one was not available on the Works but I bought it on Waterstones, i'm still waiting on this one too which is annoying but i'm pretty sure it will get here tomorrow.

The third book I bought was...can you guess? My Soul to Steal by Rachel Vincent.

This one is the fourth book in the series and annoyingly this one was the first one to arrive and so it has been sitting on my shelf waiting for books 2 and 3 to join it since Monday which is disappointing.

The fourth book that I bought was If I Die by you guessed it...Rachel Vincent.

And will you believe it but this is the fifth book in the Soul Screamers series, i'm hoping that this series really is as good as it started out because i've bought the whole lot.

The fifth book that I bought was Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent.

This is the sixth book in the soul screamers series as you had probably guessed by the posts above there seems to be a bit of a theme going here.

The sixth book that I bought was not by Rachel Vincent surprise surprise it's actually Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner.

Being the immature human being that I am Jennifer's second name made me giggle but this book sounds really good and I think it could be another really good one. It isn't too long so it shouldn't take me long to tackle it and it smells pretty good so i'd like to give it a read asap. (Yes I smell my books, don't judge me).

And finally the seventh book that I got was Men I've Loved Before by Adele Parks.

This is an author that i'd never heard of until my best friend Angela mentioned her and so when I saw one of her books for a ridiculous price of around £1 I just had to get it, the back seems really interesting and i'm hoping that it will be a really good one.

Thanks for reading,

Speak to you all soon,
Leigh xoxo

So this is actually an updated version of this post because being the idiot that I am I completely forgot about the last book that I ordered which is Someone Else's Life by Katie Dale which I think will be a good little book.

Leigh Reads - 17/08/2013

Hey everyone,

So i've managed another 50 pages of a book that i'd like to share with you, however it's not the Red Queen this time because I finished that a few days ago.

Instead the 50 pages that I read yesterday were from A Dance With Dragons Part 2 by George R. R. Martin, i'm so glad that i'm getting back into the series again and I am hoping that I can manage to get through this book quickly since I loved the first part I think it should be fairly easy plus all of my old favourite characters are back and so it just makes it that little more easy to read.

Hope you are all having a fab weekend and i'll talk to you all soon

Fitness Tips

Hey everyone,

So we all know i'm not the fittest person in the world but i'm looking to do a little more exercise, eat a little better and tone up in general. I have a few little things that I am changing about my diet as well as my exercise regime which I thought I might share with you all.

1. Avoiding Snacking

Now I absolutely hate the word diet. It gives me no motivation whatsoever and so this is probably why I struggle and so instead of naming this a diet i'm not naming it anything at all. The first thing that I decided to do was to stop snacking through the day, i'd find myself eating snacks even when I wasn't hungry just for the fact that I was bored and so by keeping busy it keeps me away from the snacks. Whenever I feel like I might want to snack on something I tend to try and drink some more juice to distract myself from wanting to eat and so always having juice made up and ready to go really benefits me.

2. Drinking Water

I absolutely hate water with a passion so instead I have opted for diluting juice, and what's more I put this into a water bottle throughout the day just refilling it when it's empty. I find it much easier to keep drinking without realising when I have the bottle to hand and don't have to go and fill up a glass every half hour. I have been alternating my juices also because I find that I get bored of one very quickly so my top juices are Robinsons Cloudy Lemon, Robinsons Summer Fruits and Robinsons Apple diluting juice. Another thing that I have found is that drinking juice is a lot more fun if it is frozen and so after making up a bottle and then putting it in the freezer makes you feel like you are snacking on ice lollies when actually it's just what you would be drinking anyway.

3. More Exercise

I found that during the day I was sitting around either reading or on the computer and when I did that I would see adverts or people eating and through boredom i'd go and pick up snacks to snack on through the day. So now i'm actually getting in two 30 minute walks every day and it makes me feel great when I get home. I started off walking really fast and trying to beat my score but i'm now finding that I can do just as much exercise with less pain to my shins if I do a more gentle walk and so it twice a day rather than just once.

4. Step Counter

You'll be amazed how much better you feel when you actually measure the amount of steps that you do in a day, with my two 30 minute walks i'm finding that i'm doing almost 7000 steps which is probably about 6000 more than I was doing last week. I got a step counter app on my phone as well as an app that measures my activity when I go out. These apps are both available on the Apple App store and are called Pacer, which is an app that measures your steps throughout the day, just make sure that you have it open and Runtastic Pedometer which you start before you go walking and it calculates your steps, average speed and how long you walked for, this app really makes me feel good because it shows how much work that I have done during a walk however it does not calculate a whole days worth of walking so that is why I keep pacer on the go all the time. With pacer you can also enter your weight and it will appear Green, Orange or Red depending on how overweight you are, this means that as you change the weight as it drops you will find it moves into different colours. There is also the option to put in your blood pressure and it tells you whether you are at risk of high blood pressure again with the green, orange and red.

5. Doing More Around The House

Just moving around through the day is helping me to feel more active and actually makes me feel like I have more energy, this time last week I would get up at around 11am and then sit around all day before going for a sleep in the afternoon, this way i'm more awake and I sleep better at night without napping during the day. I've found that just walking around the house is really helping me and also making sure that I have my phone in my pocket at all times to count the steps they really begin to add up. I also dance while I do the dishes and so this is me getting more exercise while I do jobs around the house to help my mum out which benefits us both.

I hope this post was helpful to someone and if anyone wants to ask anything feel free to comment below,

Talk to you soon,
Leigh xoxo

Leigh Reads - 14/08/2013

Hey everyone,

So i'm back again with another little update on what I read yesterday, it's pretty much the same as the day before but I just wanted you all to know that I have in fact been reading and have not just been sitting around all day.

Yesterday I managed to read another 50 pages of The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory so i'm thinking that i'll manage to finish this one pretty soon.

Apart from reading i'm still job hunting and waiting to hear back from one promising job but we will just have to wait and see. I am also on some kind of health kick right now and am attempting to walk more throughout the day as well as avoiding snacking between meals during the day which is going well so far. I'm also trying to drink only diluting juice because it's so much healthier and makes me feel good.

So far i'm enjoying the new exercise regime and hopefully it will help me to lose a few pounds even if it is just a few.

Thanks for reading,

If you have any questions please feel free to comment below.
