Snog, Marry Avoid? Book Style...#5

Snog? Marry? Avoid?

Hey everyone so i've decided to start a new series where I take a book or series and choose 3 characters and then decide who i'd snog, marry and avoid out of those 3 characters.

This weeks book is one that i've already done but there are just far too many characters to do it just once and that is A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin and today's choices are:

Joffrey Baratheon

Tyrion Lannister

Robb Stark

Again trying not to base my opinions on the characters in the TV series and their actors but by the book alone. This series just has too many characters to just do one post so here is another one.

Snog - Robb, he is another really nice guy, he seems to be very knowledgeable and kind and he is a really nice guy. I would have chosen to marry him if it wasn't for another person that i'd prefer to marry more.

Marry - Tyrion, I know what some of you are thinking. Tyrion is meant to be an ugly dwarf in the books but to me his character is really funny and that is definitely something that I look for in a guy, he makes me laugh with his wit and he tells people exactly what he feels.

Avoid - Joffrey, this was the easiest choice out of them all, this boy is horrible, I hate his character and I would rather not ever have to meet him, he orders people to do horrible things and doesn't even think twice about killing people and going back on his word to please himself.

Anyways that's all

WWW Wednesday - 29/5/2013

Hey everyone and welcome WWW Wednesdays

I found this tag online recently at:

http://en.wordpress.com/tag/www_wednesdays/

Which urges readers and book bloggers to post every Wednesday about

1. What are you currently reading

I am currently reading Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult, this book is amazing. The plot is very well done and focuses on an issue which is prevalent in today's society, the story is devastating and I am sure it will make me cry in the future but all in all it is a story of the love that a mother has for her son and what she will do to protect him.

2. What have you recently finished

I finally finished A Dance with Dragons Part 1 by George R. R. Martin, this book took a while because it's huge but also it is something that I really have to concentrate on and so it isn't something that I can just read every day, instead I have to be really in the mood to get into this book.

3. What do you think you will read next

I'm thinking about quite a few books to be honest including something by Agatha Christie or another Jodi Picoult book maybe.

Talk to you all next week

Big Changes....

Big Changes

Hey everyone so I have some big news for you all,

I got a job. This job is in Sales and Marketing and is such a brilliant opportunity that I couldn't  pass it up.

The only thing is the job is 6 days a week, 8am-6pm so it's a long day so unfortunately my blog posts may be few and far between.

Hopefully it will all work out okay and i'll still be able to post as much as possible.

I'm also hoping that the train journeys to and from work will allow me to read a little more than I have been recently and will give me more things to post.

Thank you for reading my posts and I promise i'll try my best to keep them up in the future

Love to you all

Snog, Marry, Avoid? Book Style...#4

Snog? Marry? Avoid?

Hey everyone so i've decided to start a new series where I take a book or series and choose 3 characters and then decide who i'd snog, marry and avoid out of those 3 characters.

Today's series is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and my three options are:

Gale

Peeta

Finnick

Everyone knows my feelings about this series and the last book but the characters may have been one of it's redeeming qualities and so this is my choices, not relating to the film.

Snog - Finnick, this guy is hot, he's a beautiful guy that carries a trident. What's not to love, he is described as being gorgeous and in my mind I always have a half dressed male wearing not a lot in my head which is probably why i'm choosing to snog him.

Marry - Gale, this guy really knows what he is doing, he may be from the lowest district but he really knows how to look after a girl and I think that he could definitely provide for his family. He is a family oriented guy and he could definitely survive and would definitely treat you well.

Avoid - Peeta, personally I cannot see what everyone else sees in this guy, he whines and seems to be arrogant at the beginning and all the way through whenever his name came up I just had this hatred towards him, he seemed to me to be annoying and that's why i'd avoid him.

That's it for another week,

Speak to you all soon,

My Studying Tips

Study Tips

Hey everyone, so I know this isn't what I usually do but I know that so many people are studying for exams right now and believe me I know how hard it is.

After doing exams every year for the past 7 years I know what it's like so today i'm going to let you in on my top 5 tips for studying.

1. Past Papers

If you can get your hands on some papers from previous years this can be very beneficial, not only does it help you practice in the same way which it will be laid out in the exam but it is possible that questions may be repeated in following years so you never know when a question that you did in a paper may come up in your own. Past papers also cover all of the coursework  that you have learned throughout the year and so it gives you a variety of different topics and questions that you might want to learn.

2. Find what is best for you

For me this is an easy one, I discovered this method of learning only about 2 years ago and it hasn't failed me yet. What I do is I make lists. For example when learning quotes for a play which you have to learn simply remember a character name and how many quotes you have for that person, or if it's theory for accountancy then remember different amounts of key points for each part and it makes it so much easier. Some people like to create images in their heads or stories relating to the things which they have to remember which is a really good way because then when you remember the story you remember the points which you have to put down. Making mind maps also helps as you can just remember how many branches each topic has and then try to recall what those key points are.

3. Highlighting

If you highlight key words in your notes then it makes them stand out more so when you read over them again it's easier to remember what the key word is. Plus highlighting your notes makes them look a lot nicer especially if you use highlighters in colours that you like. I tend to gravitate towards pink, purple and blue because I like the look of these colours together. I then number each of the key words and remember them that way.

4. Music? or No Music?

This is down to personal preference, some people find it easier to work in complete silence and others find it harder. This is down to you as a person, I tend to enjoy listening to music when studying and then when a good song comes on I tend to take a break and have a sing and dance, this takes my mind off the work for a few minutes before I go back to work.

5. Phone Away

For me my phone is the biggest distraction so simply switch it off or put it on silent to make sure that it doesn't distract you. But do remember that if you need help it is okay to phone a friend for help. In my class we have a facebook group on which everyone posts if they have any questions and the rest of the class can answer, I think that this is a really good and modern way of communicating any problems that you might have and I find that generally questions get answered relatively quickly because of the number of people involved in the group.

Anyway I hope these tips are helpful to some of you and good luck with any exams that you have.

Snog, Marry, Avoid? Book Style...#3

Snog? Marry? Avoid?

Hey everyone so i've decided to start a new series where I take a book or series and choose 3 characters and then decide who i'd snog, marry and avoid out of those 3 characters.

This weeks choice is from A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin and the three choices are as follows:

Jon Snow

Jaime Lannister

Viserys Targaryen

This one is again based upon the books and is not in any way affected by the TV series, even though I do think Kit Harrington is rather dishy...

Snog - Jaime Lannister, Now I know what you are thinking, the guy isn't the nicest guy on the planet. However he does have some redeeming qualities. Without ruining the books for you I feel like his character progresses and he does, to me, become more likable the further you go on.

Marry - Jon Snow, Of course, how could I choose anyone else. Jon is a really nice, friendly guy. He was raised well by Ned Stark and he is definitely a good guy, the way his character is progressing is good and he is definitely one of the people's perspectives that I most look forward to reading, therefore I think he is definitely marriage material.

Avoid - Viserys, this man is evil with a capital E, he is vindictive and plain mean, he isn't someone that i'd ever want to meet and so this is why i'd avoid him. If kill had been an option he would have gotten that one.

Hope you all enjoyed,

Read-A-Thon...

Hey everyone,

So just wanted to let you all know that there is a read-a-thon on for the whole week this week that I will hopefully have a good go at taking part in, unfortunately I couldn't read today because of college exam being tomorrow but hopefully i'll read a lot later on in the week.

Will update you all on the progress although I doubt i'll get much done tomorrow after the exam is over because i'll either be drinking to celebrate or drinking to drown my sorrows.

Hope you are all having a great week and i'll talk to you soon

Snog, Marry Avoid? Book Style...#2

Snog? Marry? Avoid?

Hey everyone so i've decided to start a new series where I take a book or series and choose 3 characters and then decide who i'd snog, marry and avoid out of those 3 characters.

Today's series is The Selection Trilogy by Keira Cass and my three character options are:

Prince Maxon Schreave

Aspen Leger

King Clarkson Schreave

This one is obviously based upon the novel considering the TV show is only in development and characters are not yet chosen. This means that I don't have any underlying feelings for the actors that are playing the characters and can choose depending on characteristics which are portrayed in the books.

Snog - Aspen, this is because I feel like Aspen is a little bit annoying, he might have been America's first love but he is so selfish and determined that he can't see that the prince would be a much better match for her and could provide for her in ways that Aspen never could.

Marry - Maxon, this man is perfect. He is handsome and caring and a little different to your typical fairytale prince, he is funny and genuine. Even with the questioning of his character in The Elite I still feel that he is the best choice and this is why i'd marry him. Plus who wouldn't want to be a princess.

Avoid - King Clarkson, his character really isn't very nice. He doesn't believe in his own son and he seems to dislike the choices which he is making, I feel that his character will grow to be even more horrible in the next book and he is definitely not someone I could see myself with by any means.

So that's it for this week, hope you all have a lovely weekend.

April Update...

April Update

Hey everyone so I was watching a video that Kalel at Wonderland Wardrobe posted about what she had done in April and I just enjoyed it so much that I decided to do this little update hope you all enjoy.

1. What was the funniest thing that happened?

I honestly can't remember, it might have been playing Battleblock Theater or Angela's birthday perhaps?

2. What books did you read?

The Elite by Keira Cass
Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler
We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han
Now Is Good by Jenny Downham
Unwind by Neal Schusterman

3. What films did you see? Or TV shows did you watch?

Films - I didn't see anything at the cinema but I did watch The Lucky One on sky movies which was a pretty decent film and i'd definitely like to see it again.

TV Shows - I watched The Following all month and really enjoyed it, not too sure about that ending though. Also watched The Vampire Diaries as always and Game of Thrones which is also going pretty good. Russell Howard's Good News has also started back so that's been added to the list as well as an episode of Say Yes To The Dress, specifically the one with my dream dress in it. I will link that episode right here: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKGCquhw2n8

4. Name something that made you proud?

Passing Graded Unit 2 and making a study plan for Graded Unit 3

5. What video games have you been playing?

Mainly The Sims 3 as always but really haven't played that much over the past month, also had a shot on the X-~Box playing Battleblock Theater with Angela which was definitely interesting especially in VS mode.

6. Did you travel anywhere?

Not unless college counts?

7. What foods have you been loving?

I've actually got to tell you that i've been very good this month in terms of food, for the past while i've been eating far too much junk food and over the past few weeks i've actually stopped that. I've set myself a goal of not eating anything between meals throughout the day because this was a huge problem and i've also cut out drinking fizzy juice which has been hard. I've allowed myself to have 1 glass of fizzy juice around twice a week which is definitely working out well.

8. Which songs have you listened to the most?

Be With You by Michael Castro
I'm Only Me When I'm With You by Taylor Swift
Until It Hurts by Fransisca Hall
If You Could See Me Now by The Script
Tonight I'm Getting Over You by Carly Rae Jepsen

9. Favourite items that you bought?

The book The Elite by Keira Cass is definitely one of the best things that I bought as well as a canvas that I got for my bedroom. Other than that i've not really bought an awful lot else.

That finding a job is much harder than you think it would be.

Snog, Marry, Avoid Book Style...#1

Snog? Marry? Avoid?

Hey everyone so i've decided to start a new series where I take a book or series and choose 3 characters and then decide who i'd snog, marry and avoid out of those 3 characters.

Today's series is the True Blood series by Charlaine Harris and my 3 character choices are:

Claude

Eric Northman

Quinn

This one is a difficult one because i'm attempting to base this on the book characters rather than their actors in the TV series. Considering Claude's character in the series is not at all what I pictured and even his mannerisms aren't exactly what I thought they would be i'm going by the books plus Quinn hasn't appeared in the TV show yet so his character is easier to imagine up going by what i've read.

Snog - I'd have to choose Claude because he is described as being absolutely gorgeous although his mannerisms would really annoy me and so based upon the fact that he is so arrogant I definitely wouldn't want to marry him.

Marry - I'd have to choose Quinn to marry even though i'm not 100% what kind of a picture he posts in my head, I imagine him being tall and built, someone that could definitely protect me. His character is a genuine and friendly guy that i'd definitely choose to be married to if I could.

Avoid - As much as I hate to say it because i'm in love with Alexander Skarsgard i'd have to avoid Eric, in the books he isn't as easy to love as in the TV series and I feel that his character is annoying and arrogant plus I don't like the thought of having my blood drank by a monster so this is why i'd have to avoid him.

Anyway that's all for this week but i'll talk to you all soon and hope you have a great weekend,

Leigh xoxo

Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella Review...

Can You Keep A Secret? Review

Can you keep a secret? by Sophie Kinsella is an amazing romantic book, I read it extremely quickly and it's definitely something which appeals to me as it reminds me slightly of my own book which I am currently in the process of writing.

Emma is sitting on a turbulent plane. She's always been a very
nervous flyer. She really thinks that this could be her last
moment. So, naturally enough, she starts telling the man sitting
next to her - quite a dishy American, but she's too frightened to
notice -all her innermost secrets. How she scans the backs of
intellectual books and pretends she's read them. How she does
her hair up like Princess Leia in her bedroom. How she's not sure if
she has a G-spot, and whether her boyfriend could find it anyway.
How she feels like a fraud at work - everyone uses the word
'operational' all the time but she hasn't a clue what it means.
How the coffee at work is horrible. How she once threw a
troublesome client file in the bin. If ever there was a bare soul,
                         it's hers.
She survives the flight, of course, and the next morning the famous
founding boss of the whole mega corporation she works for is coming
for a look at the UK branch. As he walks around, Emma looks up and
                         realises...
It's the man from the plane.
What will he do with her secrets? He knows them all - but
she doesn't know a single one of his. Or... does she?

PLOT

This book has a very good storyline, it's quick paced and extremely enjoyable. When I first read the blurb I was immediately intrigued and was desperate to read this book however, as always the book got put on the back burner and even though I first found it over a year ago i've only just gotten around to reading it. The whole story is seen through Emma's perspective, she works in a company as a Marketing Junior. When she is travelling back from a disaster of a business trip the plane hits some turbulence and in true Emma fashion she panics. While thinking that she is going to die Emma spills every one of her secrets to the man sitting beside her. Everything about her life including the secret code her and her friend have in work to sneak out to Starbucks and that she faked a grade on her CV. The story revolves around the fact that the man from the plane is actually the owner of the company and he knows everything about Emma.

CHARACTERS

Emma - Emma is a typical girl, she lies about her weight and worries about how she looks, she puts on a front and has secrets from everyone. She is a pretty unlucky and her life just seems to have disaster after disaster, this makes her all the more likable and I felt like I could really relate to her.

Jack - Jack is the CEO of the company that Emma works for and is also the man from the plane, he is witty and handsome and generally a really likable character however occasionally he seems distant and standoffish. This makes his character all the more mysterious and personally made me more interested in him and his back story.

All in all this story is an interesting one, the whole idea is very intriguing and the lighthearted romance side is really well written, the characters and plot are both very likable and it's something which I think I will probably read again in the future as well as looking for other Sophie Kinsella books and see if anything can live up to this one. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a romance novel with a good plot and lots of twists and turns.

Speak to you all soon
