Winter Tag...

Hey everyone, 

So I know this isn't usually what I do on this blog but recently I found a tag on youtube that sounds really good and since it's nearly December it fits in well with the season. Plus this also gives me something to post this month since there won't be a book haul as such because of my book buying ban. 

Anyway this Winter Tag was created on youtube by macbarbie07 and this is my answers to the questions:

1. Favorite Winter Nail Polish?
My favourite Winter nail polish this year is definitely not a typical dark colour like everyone else goes for but mine is in fact a glitter topcoat from Rimmel and is called Disco Ball, I love the colours in this and even though it takes a few coats to get it glittery enough for me and chips really easily I still adore it.

2. Favorite Winter Lip Product?
Right now the lip product that I am reaching for the most is again by Rimmel and is their moisture renew lipgloss in SOS Red. I love a red lip but i'm not the hugest lipstick fan because it just seems to wear off really quickly on me but this lipgloss is really nice even though it's a little sheer I adore it.

3. Most worn Winter clothing piece?
My light tan ankle boots are my most worn clothing during this time of year unless it's snowing then i'm more likely to be wearing Wellies.

4. Most worn Winter accessory?
My moustache necklace, enough said.

5. Favorite Winter scent/candle?
Anything cinnamon or pine remind me of this time of year. We are most likely to burn cinnamon stick by yankee candle or cranberry and cedar.

6. Favorite Winter beverage?
Hot Chocolate from Starbucks but it's far too expensive so I never drink it.

7. All time favorite Christmas/Holiday movie?
I don't really have a favourite as such because i'm not really a fan of any Christmas films.

8. Favorite Christmas/Holiday song?
Santa Baby, All I Want for Christmas is You and Last Christmas

9. Favorite Holiday food/treat?
I don't really have a Christmas food that I like because we don't really have much that is specifically Christmas related over here in Scotland and the things like Christmas pudding are absolutely disgusting.

10. What is your favorite Christmas decoration this year?
My tree, it's so pretty and I can't wait to get some new decorations for it but it's definitely my favourite.

11. What's at the top of your Christmas list?
Nothing really. I don't have anything specific on the list this year.

12. What are your plans for the holidays this year?
Spending it with family apart from that nothing much.

This or That Book Tag...

1. Audio or book in hand?

Book in hand definitely. I love having books on my shelves. If we all switched to audio and kindle there wouldn't be any need for bookshelves which would make me sad.

2. Soft cover or hardback?

I'm honestly not fussed on this at all but probably hardback because they are more durable and don't seem to ruin as easily as the paperbacks do but either way I love them both.

3. Fiction or non-fiction?

Fiction. 100%. I've never been a non-fiction fan really, I prefer elaborate stories with happy endings like in fairy tales.

4. Fantasy world or real life issues?

Well this one i'm really stuck on. I think I prefer realistic stuff but I also like the fantasy dystopian stuff. I adore a Song of Ice and Fire but I also love anything mushy and romantic.

5. Harry Potter or Twilight?

Twilight. All the way, even though I liked HP It was nothing compared to Twilight. The first time I ever read Twilight I fell in love. However since the films I haven't liked them as much...

6. Kindle, Ipad or other?

Good old fashioned book for me please.

7. Borrow or buy?

Buy. I like to read a book over and over again, especially if it's a favourite of mine so definitely buy.

8. Bookstore or online?

Hmm there's nothing better than going into a shop and browsing books so i'd say bookstore but when I buy books I tend to buy online because it's cheaper.

9. Tell me one time or total trilogy?

I love a good series but sometimes I feel like they are dragging out the ending so i'd say one time.

10. Monster read or short and sweet?

I prefer a monster read, if i'm enjoying a book i'd rather it was huge and wouldn't end so soon.

11. Starry eyed romance or full of action?

Romance, of course.

12. Curl up in your snuggie or bathe in the sun?

Bathe in the sun. Simply because we don't get much of it over here in Scotland.

13. Hot chocolate or latte?

Hot chocolate. But only if it's made with milk and not water.

14. Read the review or decide for yourself?

Decide myself.

Books to Films (TV Show's) Series #8 - Game of Thrones

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin
Book...

Before I started the series I was terribly unsure about whether I would like it or not but I have to say i'm hooked. This series is so good that it drags you into the story and the pictures that it builds of the world is so vivid that even without seeing the TV Programme I have a distinct picture of what the world looks like. The whole aspect of characters narrating different chapters is so intriguing and is something that i'm really interested in. 

TV Show...

I watched season 1 of the TV Show as I read book 1 and I really enjoyed it. There were a few gory bits that I couldn't watch as we went along but as a whole the rest was amazing and it is definitely a series that I look forward to between seasons.

Comparison...

PLOT...

The plot of series 1 is very similar to the book which surprised me because I thought it would  vary but it really doesn't. Down to the fact that I know when to look away because i've read it. I loved the way that the setting is exactly how I pictured it although I hadn't realised it for ages but i'd been picturing the King's Road as being tarmac like a normal road not a dirt track.

CHARACTERS...

The characters are amazing in these books and in the show, I already had an image of them from the show and so I never formed my own opinions but I really love the actors and actresses that were chosen for the roles. There are characters that you love and there are ones you hate and unlike traditional fiction the hero doesn't always make it to the end. This is what makes it so different from other books because George R. R. Martin believes in making emotional bonds with characters and the severing them. 

Day and Night Tag

QUESTIONS: 

D: Do you read more in the morning or at night?
I mainly read at night before I go to sleep but occasionally i'll read on the bus when i'm heading to college so technically I read in both. At night i'll read whatever my main book is and then i'll switch off the light and read my PLL series on my phone to get me off to sleep. In the morning it depends if I have put a book into my bag whether I read on my phone or not.

A: Are there any books that changed the way you thought about things?
The book that changed my thoughts on life was Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver. The story is very touching and makes you think about who you are as a person and what life means to you. It really put in perspective for me that life is too short to waste it doing things that you don't love.

Y: YA or Not?
Most definitely YA. Most of the books that I read are YA and only a few are Adult fiction.

A: Are there characters that you honestly believe are real?
No but there are a few that I wish were real. I wish I was Daenerys Targaryen, she's strong and independent and is exactly how I would want myself to be if I was in that time period.

N: Nobody touches my books or I don't mind loaning my books out?
I wouldn't mind lending my books out but only if I knew that the person that I lend them to would look after them and wouldn't dog-ear them or crack the spines. I almost cried when I cracked the spine of A Storm of Swords

D: Do you ever smell your books?
I do. I love the smell of books, they all tend to smell different i've noticed. Some smell good while others don't. This is also my prime argument for not getting a kindle.

N: Not everyone loves books...is this a positive or a negative?
It's not positive because they don't know what they are missing but it's not a bad thing either. They just don't have a passion for books. They probably prefer other hobbies that us "Book People" just don't like. My sister for example hates books but she loves being outside playing football while i'm a couch potato that would spend my whole day devouring a book if I could. I think it's hard to force a non-booky person to read because they simply don't enjoy it.

I: I keep my books in the best condition or maybe not? Which are you?
I try my best. My Twilight Saga are wrecked, the spines are ruined. I almost cried when I cracked the spine on a Storm of Swords. Oh and I never dog-ear my books either.

G: Gosh I have to many books! True or False?
Gosh i've bought too many books this year? True. I am trying to get to 50 before the end of the year and I am slowly but surely getting there. I am on 43 which means I have 7 still to go before the end of December.

H: Have you ever spilled or stained your books before with something, and if so how?
Never. I'd be devastated if I did. Although does makeup count? I have foundation on A Storm of Swords Part 1 and a bit of mascara too.

T: Toned or untoned while reading? ..or in other words...Do you read and workout at the same time?
Haha me? Workout? I don't think so. The most exercise I get is walking and I don't read and walk.

October Book Haul

Hey everyone, 

So it's that time again where I present to you the books that i've bought over the past month. This month has been marginally better than previous months because I made a trip to The Works and bought 3 books, So this month's haul consists of 5 books. P.S I am so sorry!!! Only just realised the date...

The first book that I bought this month was one that I wasn't sure was going to get here before I got to Inverness but thankfully it did. A Storm of Swords Part 2 by George R. R. Martin

I started reading this book a little bit while I was away but to be honest I haven't gotten very far in  it at all simply because I still have 9 books to go to get to my 50 book challenge and if I continue reading these i'll never make it to 50 before January. I have read a few chapters of this book but didn't continue because I got some smaller and quicker reads but hopefully as soon as I make it to 50 i'll start back up with this book.

The next book that I bought this month was Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver.

 I've been meaning to get this book for months because I loved Delirium so much but it just took me a while to get my hands on it. Now that I have the book i've not read a lot of it really but what I have read has been really good and I can't wait to read more into this series. I have a few other books that have just taken over this month that I just can't put down.

The third book that I bought was one that I wasn't even planning on reading and that is A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris.

I didn't even consider reading this book at all which is a bit strange for me because I adore the series and for some reason the short stories didn't seem to important but I read this book in two days and loved it. The stories helped me to understand the real novels so much and I honestly really loved them. I am hoping to do reviews of all of the books in the series next year which is really exciting for me. All in all I adored this little book and would definitely read it again.

The fourth book that I bought was Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris.

I am almost finished this book already because I am obsessed with the series, I have put the next two books on my christmas list and hopefully my mum will get me them and I can read on some more.

Finally the last book that I bought this month was What I Did On My Holidays by Chrissie Manby

This seems like it's going to be a light-hearted easy read that will be enjoyable and quick, at least I hope so and it seems like it will be one of the last books that I read this year to make it to the 50 books.

I just want to let you all know that I will not be buying any books in the month of November unfortunately and so there will be no book haul, however my Christmas consists of books and little else so December's haul could be a much better one. I'm also planning on posting a post of all of the 50 books that I have read this year with a little note on what I though of each one.

Books to Films (TV Show) Series #7 - True Blood

Book...

I adore this series so much that I never want it to end. The plot of the books is amazing so far and I love them, I adore the characters and the way that they are portrayed and I find them easy to like and relate to. This is my favourite Vampire series out of all of the ones that I have read.

TV Show...

Oh wow. The programme is amazing, at first I was worried that it was going to be gory, which it is slightly, as you would expect from Vampires and Werewolves and Shifters and all that stuff but it is definitely by far one of my favourite TV Shows right now. The only thing I would say is that it isn't suitable for younger viewers simply because of the amount of Sexual content and for some the gore might be too much.

Comparison...

PLOT...

The plot of the books and show are very close especially in the earlier books with book 1 being very similar indeed to the first part of the show, I think that as we get further into the series on TV they seem to be changing it more and more but for me that's okay. It's like reading and watching 2 different stories about the characters which only makes it more exciting and enjoyable.

CHARACTERS...

I watched the show before I read the books so I had an idea of what people looked like which is always a good way to start especially when there are so many characters like with this book. In the books my favourite characters have always been Eric and as of recent Quinn however we have not come across Quinn in the TV Show yet and so I have no idea what I picture him looking like. In the show my favourite character is Alcide, he is an amazing character and he is absolutely gorgeous and purely for the comedy side I like Russell Edgington and Pam. There are a few characters that haven't yet appeared in the book that are in the Show like Jessica so I am hoping that she pops up soon.

All in all I love both the books and the show and can't wait for them to continue.
